My name is Páidi. I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Statistics from UCC
(University College Cork).
Once my degree was completed I worked for a London based Investment Bank as an intern to get a feel for the industry. I then progressed to read a Masters in Financial Mathematics at Edinburgh University to broaden my Mathematics background with a financial view.
Once my college life was complete it was time to apply for jobs, and Mako was one of the first companies I applied to. I received two offers from other investment houses but Mako was the company which suited my needs. The life of a trader has captured my attention more than any other job, mainly because the lifestyle is attractive. You never know what’s in store from day to day and you need to work hard to achieve your goals.
I am currently with the company as a junior trader, trading the FTSE; my future aspirations lie in becoming a senior trader/ head of a desk running a complex portfolio. In conclusion I would venture to say that the life of a trader at Mako has so far met all my expectations.
