Haller

The Haller Foundation was established as a charity in 2004. Haller offers a model for practical economic development that is sustainable and environmentally sound. Their work is inspired by Dr Rene Haller who has over 50 years of experience in regenerating land in East Africa, primarily in the rugged and inhospitable land just outside Mombasa. Building on the lessons he learned during the creation of Haller Park, they work in collaboration with local people to help them become self sufficient. The goal is not to hand hold but to hand over. As soon as a community is able to produce food sustainably, has access to safe water, healthcare and education, they move on to help the next one.
