David Segel - Chairman and CEO

With extensive experience trading options on most of the world’s leading exchanges, coupled with a long history of success as an entrepreneur, both in and out of the financial markets, David is well equipped to actively manage the Mako Group. A graduate from Yale University in 1986, David’s key role is to guide Mako’s long term vision and strategy.

Chris Welsh - Managing Director

Chris is responsible for the oversight and development of Mako's established and emerging businesses. He joined Mako in 2001 and worked in proprietary trading and structured equity sales before moving into his current role at the beginning of 2006. Prior to joining Mako Chris worked for Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley. He holds a degree in Economics from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and is a qualified accountant.

Lorraine Baines - Chief Financial Officer

Lorraine joined us from JP Morgan where she was CFO for their Institutional Trust Business in London. She first qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers and Lybrand in Dublin. Following a year's world travel she joined Charterhouse Bank Ltd where she spent four years as a Financial and Regulatory Accountant and a further four years responsible for Management Reporting.

James Cole - Head of Equities Trading

Having started his career with Saratoga on the IPE in 1992 , James moved to the LIFFE floor at the beginning of 1994. He traded Bund options for 3 years, before moving to Amsterdam to trade single stock options. In 1999, and co-inciding with the closure of the LIFFE floor, James moved back with what was now Mako to the UK to trade the FTSE in an "upstairs" screen based format. In the spring of 2000 he set up Mako's ESX trading desk and has subsequently established a leading position within that market.

Alistair Heaton-Armstrong - Head of Sales Trading

Alistair is Head of Mako Financial Markets at Mako with responsibility for overseeing the Group's sales trading activities in London and New York. Prior to joining Mako Group in December 2003, Alistair worked for KPMG Consulting and KPMG in London, where he managed the relationships with a number of clients on a wide range of merger and acquisition, finance restructuring and business transformation projects across Europe.

Ben Raumann - Head of Fixed Income Trading

Ben joined Mako straight after university in 1998, having studied Physiological Sciences at Oxford. He first worked for the Saratoga FTSE option trading team on the LIFFE floor before a period working on the Amsterdam Options Exchange. On his return he help set up Mako's Eurex Fixed Income options desk and has now been trading Fixed Income options for 8 years. He became head of the desk in 2005.

Kevin Sweet - Head of Technology

Kevin is the vision behind Mako's technology and is responsible for building our global network of electronic trading tools. Previous to his position at Mako, he was in charge of technology for Saratoga, before he was a partner at Hull Trading Group in Chicago. He received a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from UCSD in 1988.
